Advanced Manufacturing Technician

Advancing the Future of ECM Manufacturing
At Voxel Innovations, you'll operate advanced Electrochemical Machining (ECM) equipment that manufactures precision components for aerospace, medical device, energy, and industrial markets.
We're an engineering-driven company focused on advancing the capabilities of ECM technology. By developing new manufacturing processes, refining existing ones, and expanding ECM into new products and applications, we're helping redefine what's possible in precision manufacturing.
As part of our team, you'll work alongside Engineering, Quality, and Operations to solve complex manufacturing challenges, improve production processes, and manufacture components requiring exceptional precision and quality.
The Role
As an Advanced Manufacturing Technician, you'll do much more than operate equipment. You'll become an expert in ECM, supporting production while helping improve manufacturing processes and expand the capabilities of this unique technology.
You'll set up and operate advanced manufacturing equipment, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, inspect precision components, and work closely with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and process capability.
The ideal candidate enjoys understanding how equipment, manufacturing processes, and production systems work, not just how to operate them. We value technicians who ask questions, diagnose problems, understand cause and effect, and continually develop their technical expertise.
This is not a traditional production role. We're looking for individuals who combine strong technical aptitude with ownership, accountability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely operate advanced Electrochemical Machining (ECM) equipment.
- Set up production jobs, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
- Verify machine setup and process parameters before production begins.
- Perform incoming, first article, in-process, and final inspections.
- Monitor manufacturing processes and identify abnormalities before they impact product quality.
- Troubleshoot equipment, tooling, and manufacturing process issues.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and equipment care.
- Accurately complete production, quality, inventory, and work order documentation.
- Maintain clean, organized, and controlled manufacturing work areas.
- Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to improve business operations.
- Follow all company safety procedures and Quality Management System requirements.
Qualifications
We're looking for individuals who combine strong technical aptitude with exceptional drive and character. Successful technicians at Voxel are mechanically inclined, enjoy solving technical problems, learning new manufacturing processes quickly, and hold themselves to a high standard of quality and accountability.
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
- Ability to understand and follow engineering drawings, technical documentation, and work instructions.
- Ability to learn complex manufacturing equipment, processes, and software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, integrity, accountability, and reliability.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts on a 4-on / 4-off schedule.
- Resides within approximately 30 minutes of our Knightdale facility or be willing to relocate.
- U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to U.S. export control requirements.
Experience That Will Help You Succeed
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Machining, or another related technical field.
- Experience operating advanced manufacturing equipment or automated production systems.
- Experience in performing equipment setup, process verification, troubleshooting, or preventive maintenance.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
- Experience in aerospace, medical device, semiconductor, industrial, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
Compensation
Day Shift: $24–$27/hour, depending on experience
Night Shift: $29–$32/hour, depending on experience
Training & Career Development for this role
Every new technician completes a structured training program designed to build expertise in Voxel's equipment, manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production standards.
Previous experience with advanced manufacturing equipment or manufacturing processes is valuable but not required. We hire people with strong technical aptitude, curiosity, mechanical ability, and a willingness to learn. We'll teach you our proprietary ECM manufacturing process, but we expect every technician to develop a deep technical understanding of the equipment, processes, and manufacturing principles that drive our success.
As Voxel continues to grow, technicians have opportunities to expand into:
- Equipment subject matter expertise
- Advanced manufacturing process ownership
- Process troubleshooting and optimization
- Training and mentoring other technicians
- Technical leadership and supervisory opportunities
Voxel Innovations is advancing the capabilities and applications of ECM technology. We develop manufacturing processes that solve complex production challenges and enable our customers to manufacture precision components that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to produce using conventional methods.
When you join Voxel, you won't simply operate equipment, you'll become part of a collaborative engineering and manufacturing team, helping advance a unique manufacturing technology while developing your own technical expertise.
At Voxel, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Learn advanced manufacturing technology found almost nowhere else in the industry.
- Work alongside engineers to solve challenging manufacturing and process problems.
- Develop expertise operating sophisticated manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Make meaningful contributions within a small, collaborative, high-performing team.
- Build a rewarding career with opportunities for technical and professional growth.
- Help expand the capabilities and future applications of Electrochemical Machining.
The people who are most successful at Voxel are technically curious, enjoy solving difficult problems, and take pride in mastering complex manufacturing processes. They take ownership of their work, embrace accountability, and continually look for ways to improve themselves, their teammates, and the company.
They value quality over shortcuts, collaboration over individual recognition, and understand that exceptional manufacturing is built on discipline, preparation, technical expertise, and continuous improvement. They live our core values by when tackling new challenges.
Voxel Core Values
- Expect Excellence Details matter. Whether it's the quality of our parts, the organization of our workspaces, or the documentation that supports our products, excellence is the standard—not the exception. We hold ourselves accountable, own our work, and continually strive to exceed customer expectations. When something goes wrong, we take responsibility, learn from it, and make it right.
- Do Right By Others We expect every employee to contribute technically to the success of the team. We believe the best ideas come from collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a willingness to help wherever needed. We succeed together by teaching, learning, and supporting one another.
- Always Getting Better Continuous improvement happens at three levels—personal, process, and company. We challenge ideas with facts, not opinions, continually expand our technical knowledge, and take initiative to improve the way we manufacture.
- What Would Happen If...? Innovation begins with curiosity. We ask questions, challenge assumptions, and pursue solutions others haven't considered. We aren't afraid to try difficult things, learn from failure, and continually expand the capabilities of ECM manufacturing.
